Tamarind

Sweet-sour fruit for chutneys and sauces

Also known as

Tamarindenmark, Imli

Tamarind is the fruit of a tropical tree whose sweet-sour pulp is central to Indian, Southeast Asian and African cuisines. In India, Tamarind is used for Chutneys, Sambar, Rasam and many South Indian dishes. It is sold as a block, paste or concentrate and soaked in water before use. Tamarind gives dishes a characteristic acidity without the sharp sting of vinegar or lemon. We carry Tamarind paste and concentrate in original brands.
