Taste and use
Roasted, the semolina tastes nutty; unroasted it tastes raw and floury. If the upma turns pasty instead of grainy, there was too much water in the pot.
About this product
Durum wheat semolina, roasted before packing. It is the base for upma, for rava dosa and for halwa. Roasting keeps the grains separate as they swell, so the finished upma stays crumbly instead of clumping. Unroasted semolina has to be pan-treated first; here that step is done.
About Annam
Annam covers staples from India: rice, lentils, flours, spices and sugar. They are brought to Germany by Transfood, a wholesaler in Ratingen.
