Taste and use
Flavourless on their own; they only carry what is added. Properly soaked the pearls are soft and separate; if they stick into a lump there was too much water.
About this product
Small pearls made from tapioca starch, neither a grain nor a seed. They are soaked before cooking until they crush between the fingers, then made into sabudana khichdi with peanuts and potato, into vada, or into kheer. Small pearls soak faster. 100 g dry makes two portions.
About Annam
Annam covers staples from India: rice, lentils, flours, spices and sugar. They are brought to Germany by Transfood, a wholesaler in Ratingen.
