Taste and use

Sour and salty, with mint and the sulphurous note of black salt. Yellow chilli comes ninth in the ingredient list, behind tamarind and ginger.

About this product

Spice powder for the water served with pani puri, the fried hollow shells filled with spiced water and eaten whole. The pack states one teaspoon to a glass of cold water, stirred, not boiled, and names dahi vada, fruit juice and buttermilk as further uses.

About MDH

MDH stands for Mahashian Di Hatti, the Gulati family spice shop from Sialkot, reopened in Delhi after partition in 1947. The company is based in Gurgaon today.
