Taste and use
Earthy and savoury, with a skin that leaves a slight bite. Cooked properly the lentils are tender and still separate; if they collapse into a purée they were in the pot too long.
About this product
Whole brown lentils with the skin on, known in Germany as Tellerlinsen and in India as sabut masoor. They keep their shape while cooking and go into dal, into lentil soup and into salads. Soaking is not required but shortens the time; without it they turn tender in around fifteen to thirty minutes.
