Taste and use
On their own they are neutral to slightly beany. They take on whatever they are cooked with. Prepared properly they are soft outside and spongy firm inside; a dry centre means they were in the water too briefly.
About this product
Dried soya chunks made from defatted soya flour, known in India as soya chunks or nutri nuggets. Dry they are hard and only soften in hot water: let them stand until they are soaked through to the middle, then squeeze them out and add them to the sauce. Unlike beans or lentils they are not soaked overnight or cooked at length.
