Taste and use
Once the water is absorbed, cover the pan tightly, take it off the heat and let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes. If the rice is too firm after that, use more water next time; if it is too soft, use less.
About this product
White basmati rice from India in a 5 kg sack with a carry handle; the pack describes it as aged, with an extra long grain. Basmati is a long-grain rice whose grains grow longer as they cook and stay separate – the base for biryani, pulao and any curry served with rice. The cooking instructions on the pack: rinse one cup of rice thoroughly, soak it for 30 to 35 minutes in lukewarm water, then add it with salt to 2.5 to 3 cups of boiling water and cook over medium heat until the rice has absorbed the water.
