Taste and use
Nutty and dry, with a firm, slightly floury centre and the earthy note of turmeric. Not hot. Properly roasted they snap when you bite; if they crumble, they have drawn moisture.
About this product
Whole chickpeas, roasted rather than fried, with salt and turmeric. Nothing else is in the pack. In India they are called bhuna chana. They are eaten by the handful, scattered over chaat, or ground into sattu, the flour used for cold summer drinks. For a bowl allow a generous handful, around 40 g; the pack covers a good twenty.
