Taste and use
Mild and salty, with clear black pepper and a faintly bitter chickpea note. No chilli. Unlike sev, gathiya does not break glassily but gives a little – short and crumbly, not hard, is right here.
About this product
Thick, short-textured sticks of chickpea flour with black pepper, ajowan and asafoetida – gathiya needs no more seasoning than that. It is not an ingredient but what comes to the table with chai, classically alongside pickled green chillies. For four people allow around 80 g.
About Balaji
Balaji Wafers belongs to the Virani family in Rajkot, Gujarat, and has carried that name since 1981. From Balaji we stock sev, khakhra crackers and snack mixes.
