Taste and use
Mild and faintly nutty, finer in the mouth than rice. Not hot. Cooked right the grains are soft and separate; too much water turns them into a porridge that cannot be parted again.
About this product
Small millet grains, called moriyo in Gujarati, samo in Hindi and bhagar in Marathi. They are cooked like rice and appear on fasting days such as Navratri and Ekadashi, because the fasting rules do not count them as a cereal. Soak for half an hour, then one part grain to two parts water. 100 g dry makes two portions.
