Taste and use
Full buttery taste, more concentrated than butter and without its freshness and acidity. Ghee adds no seasoning of its own; it carries the flavour of the spices that open up in it.
About this product
Ghee is clarified butter: water and milk solids are cooked out of butter, leaving almost pure milk fat. The ingredient list names nothing else. In Indian cooking ghee takes the place oil or butter takes here – for frying whole spices at the start of a dish, in dal and over cooked rice. The tin holds 1 kilogram.
About Amul
Amul goes back to the Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union in Anand, which was registered in 1946. From Amul we stock ghee (clarified butter).
