Taste and use
Sour and salty, with chilli and a warm note of nutmeg, plus the sulphurous note of black salt. Clearly spiced but not burning. They are right when they snap hard; chewy ones have drawn air.
About this product
Split husked chickpeas, fried and seasoned – a finished snack, not a raw lentil for cooking. The chickpea makes up 83 per cent; the rest is oil and a broad spice mix reaching as far as nutmeg and bay leaf. Eaten by the handful or scattered over chaat. A handful, around 30 g, is one bowl.

Balaji Wafers belongs to the Virani family in Rajkot, Gujarat, and has carried that name since 1981. From Balaji we stock sev, khakhra crackers and snack mixes.
