Taste and use
Warm and sweetly spiced from fennel, cinnamon and cardamom, with the dried plum alongside. Chilli comes third in the ingredient list: the blend brings its own heat, which you should allow for when seasoning further.
About this product
Spice blend for biryani, the layered rice dish with meat or vegetables. Dried plums come fourth in the ingredient list, alongside coriander, fennel, cardamom, cloves and nutmeg. Salt comes first, ahead of the coriander, so you will need less salt than usual.
About MDH
MDH stands for Mahashian Di Hatti, the Gulati family spice shop from Sialkot, reopened in Delhi after partition in 1947. The company is based in Gurgaon today.
