Taste and use
Rounded and faintly sweet from onion and garlic powder, with star anise behind. Chilli comes third in the ingredient list: the blend brings its own heat.
About this product
Spice blend for dal makhani, the whole black urad lentils with butter and cream. The pack states 15 grams to 110 grams of lentils and 30 grams of kidney beans, soaked overnight; the spice goes into the tomato purée, cream and butter only at the end. Serve with naan, paratha or rice.
About MDH
MDH stands for Mahashian Di Hatti, the Gulati family spice shop from Sialkot, reopened in Delhi after partition in 1947. The company is based in Gurgaon today.
