Taste and use
Salty, with a smoky and slightly bitter edge. The smell is sulphurous and recalls boiled egg: that is exactly why kala namak is used in vegan cooking, for instance with tofu or avocado.
About this product
Black salt, listed as 100 per cent. It consists mostly of common salt, alongside sulphur compounds that give it its smell and dark colour. It seasons chat masala, chutneys, raita and cut fruit. Keep airtight, cool and dry. The bag holds 100 grams.
