Taste and use
Nutty and slightly sweet, stronger than moong or masoor. Cooked properly the halves stay visible and yield under pressure; they are not meant to break down completely.
About this product
Split and dehusked brown chickpeas, the stronger relative of whole kala chana. They cook into chana dal fry and into dal, go into tempering as a crunchy element and into puran poli as a filling. Dehusked pulses need no soaking; watering them anyway shortens the time on the stove.
