Chai

Spiced black tea with milk

Also known as

Masala Chai, Chai-Tee

Chai is the Hindi and Urdu word for tea and in India practically always means Masala Chai, a spiced black tea with milk. Classic spices are cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and black pepper, boiled with milk and sugar. Chai is consumed at all times of day and is a social ritual, not just a drink. The term Chai tea in the West is strictly speaking a tautology. We carry original Chai blends and individual spices for home preparation.
