Curry

Western umbrella term for Indian sauce dishes

Also known as

Curry-Pulver

Curry is an umbrella term used mainly in the West for Indian sauce dishes. In India itself the word is hardly used, instead each dish has its own name: Rogan Josh, Korma, Vindaloo, Chana Masala and so on. Curry powder in the Western sense is a British invention from the 18th century. Real Indian sauces are based on freshly ground spice blends, not a single curry powder. We stock specific Masala blends for the respective original dishes.
