Jaggery (Gur)

Unrefined cane or palm sugar

Also known as

Gur, Palmzucker, Rohrzucker

Jaggery, called Gur in India, is unrefined sugar from sugarcane or palm sap, obtained by slowly boiling without chemical treatment. Unlike white sugar, Jaggery retains minerals and micronutrients and has a caramel-earthy flavor. In Indian cooking, Jaggery is used for sweets, chutneys, curries and Ayurvedic applications. In winter, Gur is traditionally especially popular. We carry Jaggery in various forms, from block to granulated.
