Tandoori

Dishes prepared in the clay oven Tandoor

Also known as

Tandoor-Stil

Tandoori refers to dishes prepared in a Tandoor, a traditional clay oven fired with charcoal or wood. At temperatures above 480 degrees Celsius, breads like Naan are slapped against the inner wall and baked in minutes. Meats are first marinated in yogurt and a spice mix, Tandoori Masala, which gives the characteristic reddish color and smoky aroma. We carry Tandoori Masala for home preparation.
