Biryani

Layered rice dish with meat or vegetables

Also known as

Biriyani, Biryani-Reis

Biryani is an aromatic rice dish where Basmati rice and marinated meat or vegetables are layered and slow-cooked together. Mughal cuisine brought the dish to India in the 16th century, where each region developed its own variant: Hyderabadi, Lucknowi, Kolkata, Sindhi and many more. Saffron, cardamom, cloves and ghee belong to the standard seasoning. Biryani is considered a festive dish. We carry Biryani Masala and the ingredients needed for home preparation.
